Should women be considered as weaker sex?

THAT'S the million-dollar question that always arises, especially when I am travelling in BEST bus.

I am always in a fix whether to offer my seat to the ladies who are standing. I understand if she is an old or a pregnant lady, but in other cases, I just cannot decide.

Actually I fight with my conscience in such cases. Because I do not want to think and for that matter consider that women are weaker to men. Why should I sympathise with them? By offering our seats we are proving that they are WEAK.

Today we see women not just walking shoulder-to-shoulder but also surpassing men's in all walks of life. They have come out of the shadow of dependence. These are the women of 21st century. They are strong, confident and bold. In fact in many cases I have seen that men are dependent on the women.

But that doesn't mean that I am against the reservation of women seats in public transport. They should be given seats first considering the jam-packed buses in peak hours.

Harit, again, by saying "They should be given seats first considering the jam-packed buses in peak hours," you are yourself implying that women are the weaker sex and deserve to be given seats first.

Make up your mind about what you mean to say!

I am talking about the seats reserved for them. We should not take away from them. That provision should be there.

Harit really nice article...

Here s my thought on it... Giving seat to a woman is only 1 factor considering "weakness". I am a woman, n personally if I am standing i really do not expect any1 to get up!! Its no big deal! But when a guy says that, it shows a "gentleman" gesture! I think the weakness in any sex is bacially balanced.... Nature has made it complimentary... what you guys r weak @ we do good(cryin!!) and wt u guys r good @ we r weak(hurtin)!!! :P

Jokes apart... in crowded buses, the situation from women becomes different, cause there r some peverted men which makes the place unsafe for us...

The issue you've written about is absolutely a one that needs attention. For a long time now, gender is an issue which has been long ignored.

In a layman term, I'd say all cause of socialisation, the way they are brought up , and nothing more. there was apparently this research group somewhere in the heart of an Indian state wherein research was conducted on girls and boys who were young and who weren't told the difference of gender. Now, they grew up to understand that they are one, except bodily differences between them. and when the boys and girls were 15year old's they didnt have any of the "MALE aggression" or "FEMININE dependency"
this research was conducted over a span of 11 years.

Also, When a guy who is young cries, we tell him that "kya ladki jaisa ro raha hai" .... so it all begins here. even in this era, we have serials like "Balika Vadhu" which literally means child marriage. its a very sexual prompt if you see the underlying meaning.
everything has 2 meanings to it ,one apparent, which is very visible, and the other is the below the surface one.

Like history, for instance ...its told from the above, our history is full of prince and princesses and their princely states, but if u were to read the same history from the mouth of a Dalit or a woman or a black (in case of America for instance) history itself would be different.
